As EU-FRANK prepares for the second in a series of four workshops on monitoring and evaluation (M&E), we would like to share some highlights from the first workshop held on Nov 26th 2019 in Brussels.
EU-FRANK has been known for its field visits and operational exchanges, but there are other sides of the resettlement process that benefit from knowledge and networking – such as the task of monitoring and evaluating programmes. This challenging but rewarding process was behind the motivation for participants from 15 countries and organisations to convene in Brussels for a workshop organised in partnership with MPI Europe, the drivers of research within EU-FRANK, and EASO.
The workshop was a mix of evidence-based inspirational talks from practitioners of M&E from different organisations, combined with practical exercises focusing on directly applying the insights from the previous sessions. This interactive model was a success among participants, who left the workshop with concrete steps on how to take the issue forward within their organisations.
Inspired by the success of the first workshop, the upcoming occasion will extend over 1,5 days in Malmö, Sweden. It follows the same pattern of mixing heavy theory with practical exercises and a lot of opportunity for exchange, this time focusing on the monitoring and evaluation of PDO programmes.
We look forward to the developments in M&E within resettlement during that will issue from these gatherings. The topics for upcoming workshops will be shared shortly – stay tuned!
