A Swedish delegation visited the Finnish Immigration Service in Helsinki on the 4th-5th of March to exchange experiences and ideas
One of the participants from the Swedish delegation, Agneta Stoltz, writes about her experience:
Helsinki welcomed us with a blizzard, but we received a warm welcome from Marjo Mäkelä from the Finnish Immigration Service!
We gained detailed knowledge and insight into both Finland's pre-departure orientation efforts and their post-arrival practices. We also got the chance to meet both staff working hands-on with newly arrived quota refugees as well as staff sent out from the IOM to help the Finnish authorities prepare quota refugees for their new life in Finland as they arrive.
We received plenty of material on the Finnish PDO and had many meaningful discussions with all participants in the study visit, during which we received helpful answers to all our questions. It was an excellent way of gaining valuable information, which we can apply directly to our work on setting up a new Swedish PDO programme."
This exchange took place as part of EU-FRANK's PDO Network.
